Nevada Announces Another $27 Million in Awards to Improve Rural Health Care
Carson City, NV - The Nevada Health Authority today announced $26.9 million in awards through the Rural Health Transformation Program, marking yet another major investment in the health of rural communities. The new funding supports innovative care models designed to help prevent and manage chronic disease, while expanding access to primary and preventative care, behavioral health services, and maternal and infant care across rural Nevada.
"Expanding access to quality health care in rural Nevada is essential to strengthening our communities and improving lives across our state," said Governor Joe Lombardo. "These awards demonstrate that we're delivering meaningful results, and we're proud to put these federal dollars to work quickly and efficiently because rural Nevadans cannot afford to wait. What sets our approach apart is our commitment to ensuring these grants benefit the people of rural Nevada—not outside interests. Every dollar is invested in local providers, local solutions, and local communities, and my administration will keep working to ensure these resources reach the Nevadans who need them most."
Demand for this round far exceeded available dollars, with 64 applicants requesting $42 million. Ultimately, 37 projects were selected based on alignment with priority areas including chronic disease, primary care, behavioral health, and maternal and infant health.
Funded projects span a wide range of services and communities, including laboratory courier services in Storey and Lyon Counties; early childhood developmental and behavioral health access in Douglas, Nye, and Humboldt Counties; suicide prevention efforts in Douglas, Lander, Lyon, and Pershing Counties; community health worker training in Churchill, Mineral, Pershing, and Eureka Counties; home-visit chronic disease care teams in Nye, Elko, Eureka, Storey, and Lyon Counties; medication therapy management in Elko and Humboldt Counties; maternal health case management in Nye, Lincoln, and Esmeralda Counties; mobile care pods in Lander and Humboldt Counties; and expanded tele-behavioral health services across ten rural counties.
Together, these investments will expand access to care, reduce wait times, strengthen early detection and intervention, and support healthier outcomes for Nevadans in the most remote regions of the state.

Nevada has now awarded nearly $150 million in Rural Health Transformation Program awards, supporting 158 projects across 17 counties. Final award amounts and project totals remain subject to change as the Rural Health Transformation team completes negotiations and reviews proposed expenditures for allowability. These awards are funded through a five-year federal initiative under the One Big Beautiful Bill
Act of 2025, which provides $50 billion nationwide to improve rural health care. Nevada received $180 million in the program's first year.
