Upper Mazaruni to get new health post, upgraded clinic and doctors’ quarters
Residents of Kaikan, Jawalla and Chinoweing in the Upper Mazaruni will soon have better access to health care. The Regional Democratic Council (RDC) of Region Seven of (Cuyuni-Mazaruni) is moving to build and upgrade health facilities in their communities.
The RDC has invited bids for three projects with a combined engineer’s estimate of $148.37 million.
Kaikan will receive a new health post, estimated at $72.02 million. The Jawalla Health Post will be rehabilitated and enclosed at an estimated cost of $60.36 million.
In Chinoweing, a doctor’s living quarters will be constructed at $15.99 million.
The projects mean families in these hinterland villages can expect modern facilities closer to home. The Chinoweing quarters will also support health workers who live and serve in the community.
Interested contractors can buy bidding documents at the Regional Administration’s Accounts Section in Bartica, Monday to Friday, from 08:30 to 15:00 hours. Bids must include valid compliance certificates from the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) and the National Insurance Scheme (NIS), a VAT certificate where applicable, and business registration.
Sealed bids must be addressed to the Chairman of the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB), Ministry of Finance, Main and Urquhart Streets, Georgetown. They must be placed in the Tender Box no later than 09:00 hours on Tuesday, October 13, 2026.
The undertaking is part of a wider transformation within the health sector, which received an injection of $161.1 billion in the National Budget.
