Jeff Moen, retired youth correctional officer

Joff Moen, a retired youth correctional officer, passed away Sept. 16, 2026. Services will be held Oct. 1 in Lodi.

Moen began his career with the department as a group supervisor for the California Youth Authority at Dewitt Nelson Youth Correctional Facility in Stockton in January 1994.

Moen was promoted to youth correctional officer K-9 handler in March 2000. A little more than a year later, he was assigned to the Northern California Youth Correctional Center.

Moen was promoted to sergeant in August 2006 and returned to being a K-9 handler at Dewitt Nelson YCF. In July 2008, the facility closed and Moen was assigned to N.A. Chaderjian (NAC) YCF.

Officer Moen remained at NAC until retiring in August 2011.

“During his career, Officer Moen was most proud of being a K-9 handler and his two K-9 dog partners, Moe and Thor. Officer Moen is survived by his wife, mother, brother, sister, 13 grandchildren, and a host of family and friends to cherish his memory. Our hearts go out to Jeff’s family during this most difficult time. His family will remain in our thoughts and prayers for the loss they have endured,” wrote the California Health Care Facility in Stockton.

A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. Oct. 1 at Cherokee Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 14165 Beckham Road, Lodi.
